HEART is the advocate for the "underdog" whether feline or canine, fur or feather.
Since HEART was formed in 1984, we have saved the lives of thousands of animals!

URGENT NEED FOR FOSTER HOMES!!
HEART does not have a shelter facility and relies on volunteer foster homes.
It's true that no one person can save them all - but if you can make a difference in the life of even one animal,
your contribution is invaluable!! For more information visit our Foster Program page.

JON SOMMERS & WKBW VISIT
HEART PET ADOPTION CENTER

On June 21, 2007 Jon Sommers and crew visited HEART's Pet Adoption Center at 184 Main Street, Hamburg to do a feature for WKBW's PM Magazine's "Super Pet Talk Tuesday". On behalf of everyone at HEART we want to thank Jon and WKBW for taking time to visit HEART. His visit meant a great deal to our organization, but it meant even more to the animals of Western New York that depend on HEART for survival. The Pet Adoption Center shows a selection of cats available for adoption on Saturday from 10am - 3 pm. Dogs are shown by appointment only.

HOW A VISIT FROM HEART CHANGED MY LIFE

One day the HEART organization came to my school. There were three ladies carrying three cages with a cat in each one. The cats were all different colors. One was black, another was orange, and a gray one, too. When they came to my classroom to let us hold and see the cats, I knew that mischievous black cat was the cat for me after seeing her light green eyes twinkle at me.

It was finally the Saturday that my family would go to HEART to see Clover. My family noticed when we got to HEART that she had three legs. I had to beg them for her so much! Soon they agreed after a few more visits, but I knew they thought I would be responsible enough for my very own cat. Anyways, she was my Communion gift.

We got ready for another pet in our house. I went shopping with my mom at Clyde’s pet store. We bought her a litter box, carrier, food, water bowls, and lots of toys. We put her things into place. I ran into the car with my carrier and money and we drove off.

The ride to HEART was quick but it felt just too long to wait! I leaped out of the car and into HEART. I watched my mom sign the adoption slip saying she was mine. All the HEART members said their goodbyes to Clover then I left HEART with a responsibility that might change my life!

MEOW!!
MY NAME IS SUNSHINE

Just as the name indicates, I bring much sunshine to my adoptive Mom and Dad's lives. I'm so happy to have a warm home, good food and much attention from them! I love to cuddle, and sleep with them. Through the efforts of HEART and Linda Robinson, I was rescued from an uncertain future. I have brought so much love to the world.

Love, Sunshine Baron
